What the BBC are proposing is a native app which you will download from the App Store, which may include the ability to download shows, rather than just streaming them.

I’ve got iPlayer on my iPhone – it’s one of the first apps. I put on it. Orange won’t let you stream video over their 3G network but I can sit on the khasi and watch Top Gear via WiFi!
