Are you utilizing any individual plug ins or widgets that quicken it up? Do you think you could quite possibly give the widgets so I might use them on my personal internet sites so twilight eclipse followers could watch twilight eclipse online trailers and films a lot quicker I would be ever so happy – thanks ahead of time :)

But in mobile phone terms, it’s several product cycles ago. However, earlier protestations by Apple that features of software updates wouldn’t work on older models have been shown to be untrue.

I have a hard time believing that the original iPhone and iPod touch so underpowered that they could not run a subset of OS 4.

I got my Touch in May 2008 – that ain’t long ago even in the fast changing tech’ world. Way too early to stop supporting it in my opinion.

But it begs the question – how long is a reasonable amount of time to provide software updates?

There are obviously limits as to how long Apple can support devices but it feels way too soon to give up on my Touch. I can’t see any reason why I can’t I have folders, a unified inbox and wallpaper (and a dozen other tweaks, fixes and improvements).

My Touch is still my first and only Apple product and I’ve been very happy with it but if this is what I can expect by way of longevity and support, I don’t feel much inclined to get any more of their stuff.

But bear in mind – the original iPhone didn’t appear until November 2007 in the UK, and we were one of the first markets to get them outside the US. The iPhone 3G wasn’t released until July 2008, so some original iPhones (sold until the 3G came out) will be under 2 years old.

My 2nd gen 20 months on is literally falling apart (though that may have something to do with my daughter chewing on it once too often when I blink …). I thought that most iphone users are probably the type that want to jump on the next device anyhow…
