I can’t help but think of this in the same way I think about John Lennon dying – entirely selfishly.
In the same way I’ll never get to hear all the great new songs Lennon would have written, I’ll also miss out on the great new gadgets and innovations Jobs would have developed.
I guess the difference is that Jobs left behind a company and culture that will continue to create and release new products at least for the short to medium term, if not longer. Also, there’s no doubt he had an influence far beyond his own company and his ideas and approach will continue to affect the industry for a very long time.
